PASCO, Wash. - A Pasco woman accused of shooting and killing her adoptive mother in April 2011 returned to court Friday for a pre-trial management hearing.
Tashia Stuart's trial is scheduled to start later this month but an issue involving legal mail may put it off a little longer. Corrections officers searched Stuart's jail cell on March 30th and Stuart's attorneys said during that search some sensitive documents could have been compromised.
"Obviously we had concern who had the ability to look at that. Whether or not that information was provided to somebody else, for awhile there we didn't know what happened to it. Now I've read an affidavit or two that's come forward that says the items were overlooked and placed in this plastic bag," said Stuart's attorney Robert Thompson.
Stuart is accused of killing Judy Hebert during an argument about a money. Stuart claims she shot Hebert in self defense.
