Tri-Cities Mom's Get Made Over for Mother's Day

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-  Mother's Day is Sunday, but some local mothers got their surprise two days early.  And what better way to surprise mom than a day at the salon or a free make-over.

The Family Resource Center in Kennewick teamed up with the Lucas Marc Academy to give 35 mothers the royal treatment in honor of Mother's Day.

Deborah Shaw is a mother, grandmother and great grandmother from Pasco who also volunteers at the Family Resource Center and admits she's never had a make-over before.

"It was so special.  They fixed my hair and even curled it, which I don't know how to do.  They made it look perfect and I just love it," said Shaw.

Pasco mother Dora Morfine and her mom spent the afternoon together getting made-over and says she's so grateful for the free events the center hosts.

"If it wasn't for these programs a lot of people wouldn't come out like my mom.  It's a great program. I'm really happy it was available to us," said Morfine.

The Family Resource Center's Director, Yadira Galban says they just wanted to give mother's a chance to feel pampered at no cost to them this Mother's Day .

"It was nice to know it was the first time for about five to six mother's.  It's touching that the little impact we can do, makes a big impact to other people," said Galban.

The mom's we spoke to all agreed, they left feeling like a million bucks.
