Girlfriend of Missing Man Facing Welfare Charges

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- The girlfriend of a man missing since 2009 is now facing welfare fraud charges, for using the man's EBT card after he went missing.

51-year-old Ladena Mann appeared Friday in Yakima Superior Court facing felony welfare charges linked to Larry Riegel's disappearance.

Riegel is a disabled 57-year-old contract pilot, whose family hasn't made any contact with him since Christmas of 2009.

Yakima Police he may be a victim of foul play.

As for his girlfriend, who was the last person to see him before his disappearance, they see her as a person of interest.

According to state welfare-fraud investigators, Mann used Riegel's electronic benefits transfer card several times in the weeks after his disappearance.

We'll keep an eye on this case and let you know if there are any further updates.
