Davis soccer set to host first round of 4A state tournament

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Davis baseball did not advance to the state tournament, but Davis soccer did. And the Pirates also get to host their first game of the tourney. Wednesday Union will come to Yakima to take on Davis. Over the weekend Davis won the 4A District 6 tournament. The Pirates say their humble team mentality plays a big factor in their success.

"One of the things we've done this season is for our kids to understand, not just understand, but accept and embrace their individual roles and expectations for the team. So if you're a defender, to play as a defender. If you're a midfielder, to play as a midfielder. Same for the forwards and for the goalies, to accept his responsibility," Davis head coach Armando Garcia said.
