Hanford Health & Safety Expo Underway at TRAC

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. -Hanford may be experiencing layoffs, but that's not slowing down the Health and Safety Expo.

Organizers expect 70,000 people will pass through the turnstiles at TRAC, where 225 Hanford companies have set up hands-on exhibits, including distracted driving demonstrations, and home safety advice.

"It started 19 years ago when we were in the middle of a lay-off period like we are now and wanted our employees to know safety and how to apply it," says Owen Berglund, who organizes the expo and works at WRSP as a radiation specialist. "We started with 52 booths and 3,500 people and it's grown into this enormous show."

The expo is open until 7 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. It's free and open to everyone.
