Ben Franklin Transit to Open New Bus Stop at Southridge Complex

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Ben Franklin Transit will add a new bus stop next week in an effort to meet the needs of the growing Southridge area.

The new stop in front of the Southridge Sports and Events Complex in Kennewick will open on Monday, May 20th, as part of BFT route 47.

Benton Franklin Transit, The City of Kennewick and The Kennewick Parks and Recreation Commission all recognize the new stop will help people access the expanding part of town, and at no extra cost, transit directors say it was an easy choice.

"Many many many thousand people are going to events," said Christy Watts, who runs marketing and customer service at Ben Franklin Transit, "and with the baseball fields there, and the indoor sports complex, and of course the carousel is going to be open, a lot of reason to get that bus up in that area. Especially during the summer when we know there's going to be so much activity there."

To avoid causing scheduling delays, the Southridge stop will replace the Walmart loop stop for route 47. The new stop is slated for bus service every 30 minutes, Monday through Saturday.
