West Richland Finance Department Upgrades Software

WEST RICHLAND, Wash. - Fiscal accountability. That's one of West Richland's focus areas and a new software upgrade will help them achieve that.

Some West Richland residents were recently back billed for thousands of dollars because of an audit the city conducted. That audit was part of this strategic plan. The utility accounts that were wrong are now corrected and problems like that won't likely happen again anytime soon.

The finance department upgraded their software. They stayed with the same company they've been using to keep costs low and found they were actually 17 releases behind the current Springbrook Software.

"We've already made all of these operational improvements over the last several years as part of the council's strategic plan and I think this just takes us one step further. It provides more efficiency and transparency in our department," said Finance Director Jessica Platt.

The upgraded software is now live. West Richland now offers web based utility payments and coming soon, e-billing. The software cost $36,000 and is paid for out of the general fund and utility dollars.
