SLIDESHOW: Man Leads Police On High Speed Chase After Violating Restraining Order

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - A man is in custody after leading police on a wild chase throughout southeast and northeast Spokane, finally ending the pursuit near the Esmerelda Gold Course.

Early Friday morning police received a call from a woman in the 900 block of N. Napa saying that a man she had a restraining order against was sitting outside her house in his car.

When police arrived on scene and tried to make contact with the man, he sped off and a high speed chase ensued. The man raced onto the lower South Hill and then back north, missing spike strips in the process that police had set up on Freya.

He drove up onto Beacon Hill from Minnehaha and then crashed near the Esmerelda Golf Course where he was arrested. Several cars were damaged but there were no injuries.

Medics were called because he was in a state of "excited delirium." He is facing several charges.

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court says police generally need a search warrant if they want to track criminal suspects' movements by collecting information about where they've used their cellphones. The justices' 5-4 decision Friday is a victory for privacy in the digital age. That's a big change from the old days when authorities could go to the phone company and obtain information about the numbers dialed from a home telephone without presenting a warrant.
