First Inland Northwest Honor Flight Of The Season Returns To The Inland Northwest

Posted: Updated:

KHQ.COM - For the first time in the program's history, Inland NW Honor Flight chartered an entire aircraft, taking 96 veterans on this single flight. This is three times the amount normally taken on a commercial flight.

They left Spokane early Thursday morning, and returned a little more than 24 hours later.

The veterans were taken visit the memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices in Washington, D.C.

This first flight of the year was dedicated to the memory of a Spokane man, Matthew Stiltz, who was killed while serving in Afghanistan in November of last year.

More than 500 veterans have gone to Washington, D.C. with INW Honor Flight since November 2009.

This trip comes at no cost to the veterans. The Inland NW Honor Flight program is funded by public donation. If you would like to contribute, CLICK HERE
