2nd Harvest Receives $135,000 After Family Food Drive

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Our feeding families food drive ended in a big way.

NBC Right Now teamed up with Bechtel URS and its Hanford affiliates to raise money and help keep Second Harvest's shelves full.

NBC Right Now also received donations of non-perishables at our studios in Kennewick.

And on Friday, a Second Harvest spokesperson was shocked to get a check for over $135,000, the highest total ever!

"They had crazy hats, pies in the face, antics like that. We had some of the same type of things and the other part of the project. I think that type of energy encourages giving," said presenting sponsor Charles Montgomery.

"The need is there. People aren't just hungry during the holidays. It's year-round." said Second Harvest spokeswoman Cassie Hurley.

There is still time to donate online, by clicking here. You can donate money through a secure link online through Sunday.
