Richland Uptown Dog Walk Promotes Pet Adoption

RICHLAND, Wash.- Some pooches were on patrol today in Richland. At the Uptown Dog Walk, families were invited to bring sparky along for all dog- related fun.

There was a costume contest, trick contest and overall cutest dog competition, all of this to promote the adoption of local dogs. The fundraiser puts money towards saving the dogs from lives on the streets.

"It's a good idea for the community to feel like they're involved in something but also make it fun for them as well," said Ivone Farias, Chairwoman of the dog walk. "This is kind of the best of both worlds where people get to donate time and donate their money and yet still be supporting a really good cause."

Many of the Uptown stores joined in to help the cause. They offered special sales to attract customers to donate some of their extra savings to the dogs.
