Richland Police Seek Person Mailing Fraudulent Citations

RICHLAND, Wash. - Richland Police are looking for the person who officers say has been mailing fraudulent nuisance correction citations. 

Police say someone has been sending RPD Code Enforcement Nuisance Forms to people living in the area of Gage Blvd/Sky Meadow/Anna/Falcon Ridge, citing to correct barking dog nuisances.

Officers say these forms are not signed by Code Enforcement Officers, and are being mailed in a non-City of Richland envelope without a return address. 

Police say one person also reported receiving a fraudulent notice claiming to be from Animal Control. 

Officers identify criminal impersonation, which is a felony, as the following:

A person is guilty of criminal impersonation in the first degree if the person (a) Assumes a false identity and does an act in his or her assumed character with intent to defraud another or for any other unlawful purpose; or (b) Pretends to be a representative of some person or organization or a public servant and does an act in his or her pretended capacity with intent to defraud another or for any other unlawful purpose.
