Snow... in May! Even a School Closure

BICKLETON, Wash. - No your calendar isn't wrong, it's May... But a few areas in Washington state are seeing snow. Some students even have the day off from school.

School Superintendent Ric Palmer says 10 to 12 inches of snow fell overnight in the Klickitat County town of Bickleton, bringing tree branches down on lines, and knocking out power and phones.

Palmer says the 170 students, kindergarten through 12th grade, had their fist snow day this year, but the utilities should be restored and classes should resume on Thursday.

The Klickitat County sheriff's office says a couple inches of snow also fell on Satus Pass overnight on Highway 97 between Goldendale and Toppenish.
