Friday Potentially Last Furlough Half-Day for Kennewick Schools

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - This Friday could be the final furlough half-day for the Kennewick School District.

May 24th is the last of 6 days that the district has had to cut short over the last two years to offset budget costs. But until Washington state lawmakers can balance the budget and end their current special session, the district won't know if students and staff will have to take more furlough half-days in the future.

The Director of Communications and Public Relations for KSD Lorraine Cooper, says the district is hopeful no more furlough half-days are in store, but at this point there's no way to be sure.

According to the district's website, students will be released at the following times during Friday's furlough half-day:

K-5 students at 11:27AM

6-8 students at 10:40 AM

9-12 students at 10:30 AM
