KENNEWICK, Wash. - Morning commuters in Kennewick encountered delays for more than an hour, following a rollover accident, Thursday morning.

It happened around 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 395 and North Yelm Street, in Kennewick.

Troopers say the driver of a white pickup truck fell asleep at the wheel and hit another car. The vehicles then spun out of control, flipping the truck and hitting two more cars in the process.

"The driver admitted that he fell asleep when he approached the intersection...he crossed the intersection on a red light," said Washington State TrooperChris Thorson. " He was wearing a seat belt and even though his truck landed on its top his seat belt saved him."

One person was taken to Kennewick General Hospital with minor injuries. The driver was charged with negligent driving.
