TOPPENISH, Wash. - Toppenish Police say the man wanted in connection with a shooting earlier this week is now in jail.

Officers and the Violent Crimes Task Force arrested Juan Rivas Friday morning after a short chase on foot.

Police say on Tuesday night, Rivas had fired shots at his 20 year old ex-girlfriend and a 39 year old man on the 200 block of North Elm Street, and then ran into a home on the 500 block of Elm.

Officers say based on dangerous circumstances, they called in the S.W.A.T. Team who then tried to go into the home.

Police say the S.W.A.T. Team made several orders for the people inside to come out. Officers say when they came out however, they were uncooperative, so police arrested them.

The S.W.A.T. team eventually went into the home, but Rivas wasn't there. Officers say they were able to find several firearms, narcotics, and paraphernalia inside.

Police continued searching for Rivas, considering him armed and dangerous. Officers say he was also wanted on several arrest warrants and a knife assault back on May 10th.
