Facilities to Serve Veterans Opening in Walla Walla

Posted: Updated:

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - A pair of new state of the art facilities will soon help serve our local veterans. Dozens gathered at the Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center in Walla Walla Tuesday.

State lawmakers, along with veterans and community members, looked on as ribbons were cut on the new Residential Rehabilitation Clinic. A separate ceremony was held to break ground on the future site of a state veterans home.

The new 80 room facility would be the fourth of its kind in the state and the only one in our region.

"Replacing it with 80 beds state facility certainly is a very important for our veterans as they increase in age and need those additional services," said VA Medical Center Director, Brian Westfield.

A new outpatient clinic is also going up on campus. Westfield says that they hope to have it open by September.
