WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Eight Washington housing authorities, including one in Walla Walla, will receive a total of $1.5 million to put 260 homeless veterans into stable housing.

U.S. Senator Patty Murray made the announcement Wednesday, saying the Walla Walla Housing Authority will receive over $140,000 for 35 homeless veterans.

It is part of the $75 million Senator Murray included in the 2013 Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations bill to support the housing needs of homeless veterans across the county.
