GEORGE, Wash. - The Grant County coroner says the cause of death for a family of four from Stanwood who died over the weekend near George was drowning.

The Grant County Sheriff's Department says their car crashed into a flowing irrigation canal and submerged on Sunday morning near the Gorge Amphitheater.

Sheriff's spokesman Kyle Foreman says the Ochoa-Buenrostro family's SUV collided with a compact car about two miles east of George. He says the driver of the compact car, Athena T. Green of Edmonds, failed to yield to the SUV at the intersection.

The two adults died at the scene, and their two girls died at Quincy Valley Medical Center. The driver of the compact car was treated for minor injuries.
