Make-A-Wish Teen Visits NBC Right Now Studios

KENNEWICK, Wash.-  NBC Right Now following up on a West Richland teen that had a wish granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation in December.

Hanford High senior Spencer Anderson's wish to be a Seattle Seahawks' broadcaster for one weekend became a reality.

When we covered that story, we invited Anderson to stop by our studios to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes in our sports department.

Wednesday, he did just that.  Anderson got to experience what it was like to be an NBC Right Now sports broadcaster.

NBC Right Now's Sports Director Jim Foley showed Anderson around the day to day workings of a sports reporter.

Anderson got hands on experience writing for broadcast to editing, to reading a teleprompter.

He says he learned it is a lot more work than just reading stories.  "It kind of caught me by surprise at how much effort goes into three hours for a three minute news cast, but at the same time, seeing how everything comes together as a very professional atmosphere. Something that I would expect in that regard,"said Anderson.

Foley says this was just a step forward for him in what will be a long and successful sports broadcasting career and life.
