BENTON CITY, Wash. - The Benton County Sheriff's Office says two men are behind bars and one still at-large after the three tried to steal an ATV in Benton City.

Deputies say a Benton City man woke up to thieves outside his home Thursday around 4:00 a.m. He saw one riding off on his ATV and two others driving away, so he jumped in his own car to follow them.

Deputies believe the suspects were looking to steal gasoline but ended up taking an ATV.
As the owner followed the thieves, he called 911 and deputies were able to cut off the suspects.

The suspect on the ATV got off the vehicle and ran away. The two other men in the car were arrested.

"Deputies came into the area and he found all the vehicles driving including the quad runner. He put on his emergency equipment and was able to stop the car that was involved in the theft," said Lt. Chuck Jones with the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrested 24-year-old Steven Wilcox and another 20-year-old man. They are still looking for the third suspect.
