Selah softball celebrates state title with classmates

SELAH, Wash. -- Thursday Selah High School celebrated its softball team. Saturday the Selah Vikings won the 2A state softball championship. Selah beat RA Long in the title game. Thursday students gathered for an assembly to recognize the softball team's accomplishment. This year's Vikings had that extra something that got them over the hump after two straight years falling one game short.

"A lot of hard work, a little bit of luck and for the girls to buy in. Our seniors were fantastic this year. It was really nice to be able to win that championship on our home field with a big crowd of Selah there watching us," head coach Bill Harris said.

"It was pretty fun, and we had so many fans there, so as soon as we won, everyone rushed the field. It was all excitement and tears, happy tears obviously, but the seniors were sad because we're done. We're like, 'man, we win then we have to go,'" senior Sarah Bersing added.
