KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kennewick Police say a teenager is taking responsibility for the graffiti at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Police say a group of combat veterans reported graffiti on and around the memorial at the base of the Cable Bridge in Kennewick earlier this week.

Officers say when they tracked down their prime suspect, a 16-year-old boy, he confessed to the crime and wrote a letter of apology.

The police department wants to remind all young people that of vandalism to include graffiti will not be tolerated, and it will result in criminal prosecution.

Police say they aren't sure yet if prosecutors will press charges.
