Mariners Grab Opener In Minnesota Behind Iwakuma's Gem

Hisashi Iwakuma continued his tremendous season as he kept the Twins' bats at bay into the eighth inning of a 3-0 Seattle Mariners win Friday in Minnesota.

Iwakuma allowed seven hits and two walks in 7 2/3 innings, but was able to blank the Twins as he worked out of several jams. Iwakuma is now 6-1 with a 2.13 ERA on the season.

Kendrys Morales provided all the offense Iwakuma would need with a two-run home run in the sixth. Jesus Sucre added a run later in the frame with an RBI single.

Moses Lake native Ryan Doumit went 0-for-4 at the plate.
