Kennewick Cheer Squad Washing Cars

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash- Kennewick High School cheerleaders took a break from practice to wash cars Saturday.

Like many school programs, the funding isn't readily available for uniforms and gear. We're told about 90% of their funding is from donations and raising the money at events like this one. Their coach says it costs about $700-$1000 for gear for every new girl they take on the team.

"It's summer, everybody loves to get their car washed," said Kate Kinion, the cheerleading coach. "It's by donation so whatever they feel like they can afford, and the girls like to get out in public and it's a great way for them to be seen."

The squad plans on having another car wash later this month.
