Yakima Visitor Center Celebrates 10 Years

YAKIMA, Wash.-- The Yakima Valley Visitor Information Center is celebrating its ten year anniversary.

The center was dedicated in May 2003 and was designed to be the gateway to Washington wine country.

Over the years, officials say 150,000 have walked through the center's doors.

They say it's not only been a great resource for tourists, but for locals too.

"This center is like an interpretive center. It provides a wide range of resources on the community, the region. You've got everything from hiking, to trails, to events," said John Cooper with the Yakima Valley Visitor and Convention Bureau.

Cooper says they don't have any plans to change the center but will continue expand as the community grows.
