Adult Entertainment Business Restrictions Coming to Toppenish

Posted: Updated:

TOPPENISH, Wash.-- The City of Toppenish wants to hear from the public on a proposed ordinance that would restrict where adult entertainment businesses could be set up.

Right now, the city doesn't have many restrictions on where an adult business can be located.

Once the ordinance is adopted, there will likely be an 800ft buffer zone around schools, churches, and other sensitive areas, along with other restrictions.

"Although we are not facing an application or somebody interested in an adult entertainment business in Toppenish, they felt it best to be proactive," said Bill Rathbone, community development director for the City of Toppenish.

Rathbone says the city decided to draft the ordinance to be in line with other local communities.

Tuesday's public hearing starts at 6pm at Toppenish City Hall.
