Yakima Police Get a New K-9 Thanks to Hop Union

YAKIMA, Wash.--The Yakima Police Department's newest K-9 showed off his skills Tuesday for the people who brought him here.

Don Bryant, the CEO and President of Hop Union said the company wanted to give back to their community so they donated more than $17,000 to purchase "Havoc,"a trained police dog from the Czech Republic. Havoc has been working the city's streets for about a month now.

"With all the cutbacks, in any government agency we just thought this was something that could protect the police officers and allow them to operate with less officers in a safer manner," said Bryant.

"It's amazing, it really created the opportunity for me as the handler to even have this position," said Officer Robert Walters with the Yakima Police Department.

The Police Chief said they've wanted to add a fourth K-9 for a while, but the department didn't have the money.
