No Suspects or Motive in Basin City Homicide

BASIN CITY, Wash. - An elderly man was killed in his Basin City home, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. The man was found dead in his home around 10:15 a.m. Friday morning.

Sheriff Richard Lathim said there is no motive and there no suspects at this time but 88-year-old Frank Sanchez was found dead by his daughter. The Sheriff's Office said the woman had checked on Sanchez around 5:30 Thursday night at his home on Fairway Road. When she couldn't get ahold of him Friday, she went to check on him and found him dead.

Sheriff Lathim did not say much about how it happened but he did say 'there was blood' and Sanchez appeared to have died a violent death.

"It's a little bit peculiar to have an elderly man to be attacked in his own home and left for dead because it's just hard to understand what could have been the motivation there," Lathim said.

Investigators were on scene for much of the day trying to piece together exactly what happened. An autopsy will be done soon to determine how Sanchez died.
