RICHLAND, Wash.- At Jason Lee Elementary in Richland they had what they call a "clap out" today.
The kids line the main hall of the building and then clap and give high fives to the fifth graders who are moving up and graduating into middle school. Their principal says he thinks the clap out is a great confidence booster for the kids.
"I had a lot of fifth graders ask me this year, 'are we still going to do the clap out Mr. Jias?' and I said 'oh absolutely!' I think it's a tradition the kid's really like and just a fun way to send them off," said Principal Joe Jisa.
This is the third year they've done the clap out at Jason Lee Elementary and with the encouragement of the kids; they plan on doing it every year.
