Another Big Building at Davis High School Set to be Demolished This Month

Yakima, Wash.--Construction crews are currently in the middle of completing two new buildings at Davis High School.

The commons room, also known as the cafeteria, will have large glass windows looking out toward the downtown area.

Jim Wright, the Construction Planning Principal, said the cafeteria will be finished by October. The new "E" building, which will become the math and science building is also set to be completed in the fall.

Wright said they're still in the process of moving teachers out of certain buildings because there are still several renovations planned for the near future.

"When we're finished every classroom will be touched, will get a full remodel, will be updated with the latest in technology, electrical wiring and lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning," said Wright. "It'll be a first class school."

The "C" building is the next big undertaking. It holds several classrooms, but will be demolished by the end of this month. Wright said the new building will contain the administrative office, library and the art classrooms.

Wright said the total project is slated to be finished in the fall of 2015.
