YAKIMA, Wash.--A 16-year-old boy made his first appearance as an adult in Yakima County Court Monday, facing charges of second degree murder.

According to court testimony. Daniel Perez shot 26-year-old Octavio Rangel five times outside the Yakima Transit Center last October.

Perez was 15-years-old at the time of the incident and was originally assigned to Juvenile Court because of his young age. However, the judge said because the nature of the crime was so violent, Perez should be tried as an adult.

His bail is set at $500,000.
