RICHLAND, Wash. - He has been a fixture at Hanford High School for more than two decades and this week, he is stepping down.
Tom Hegarty is retiring after 20 plus years of working at the school and directing the athletic department. Hegarty says he has seen a lot of changes during his time at the school. Now he is ready to step back and watch the school continue its growth, as a fan. He says the support from the coaches, staff, and students at the school is one of the things he'll miss the most.
"Thank you to all of them because they've really made it an enjoyable 20 years. I have no regrets at all and I knew this is where I supposed to be and it's been a great run," Hegarty said.
An event honoring Hegarty will be held Monday evening at 7 p.m. in the Hanford High Commons. The public is welcome to attend.
