PASCO, Wash.-- Some local schools are upgrading the way they teach, taking advantage of new technology.

In Pasco, students can now take the old school brick and mortar buildings out of the equation with the I-Pal program.

A student can elect to take certain classes online through different online applications. The Pasco School District can create entire class outlines that students can access from any computer. The students then self motivate themselves to complete the various assignments and quizzes.

Educators hope that their kids will also get real life studying skills from the program.

"Online learning can happen any hour of the day, so there are definite hours that they come and they work with Dawn our facilitator, but the rest of the time they really are on their own and have the support of their families too," said Sarah Flynn, administrator with the Pasco School District.

Throughout the courses the facilitator also checks the student's work and has more chances to teach one-on-one, ensuring the students are absorbing all of the information they can.
