Suspects Accused of Trying to Murder Yakima Realtor Plead Not Guilty

YAKIMA, Wash.--Two suspects accused of beating and cutting the throat of a 78-year-old Yakima man pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday.
 
According to court documents, Luis Gomez-Monges and Adriana Mendez used fake identities and a false back story to get realtor Vern Holbrook, to meet them in Cowiche for a house showing.
 
Deputies said Gomez-Monges beat the victim and cut his throat. He faces charges of first degree attempted murder.
 
Mendez is charged as an accomplice to attempted murder.
 
NBC Right Now also found out that the victim was released from Harborview Medical Center. Investigators said the investigation is ongoing.
