Kennewick Police Close Kellogg Street for Gas Leak Investigation

KENNEWICK, Wash. - As of 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Kennewick police are allowing people to return to their homes along Kellogg St. between 6th and 10th Avenue. Crews have secured the broken gas line that caused a gas leak around 10:30 Thursday morning.

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kennewick firefighters say a ruptured 2" natural gas line is the cause of a gas leak in the area of 8th and Kellogg in Kennewick.

Firefighters say around 10:30 a.m. they responded to a reported gas leak and found a contractor had accidentally ruptured the gas line. They shut down all heavy equipment operating in the area and evacuated all homes within 300 feet of the gas line.

The area will remain blocked until the gas company can secure the broken gas line and eliminate the hazard. The Kennewick Police Department is also asking the public to stay away from the area so crews can complete the work.
