KENNEWICK, Wash. - A longtime teacher at the Benton Franklin Juvenile Justice Center celebrated her retirement Thursday.

Staff and students gathered in the gym this afternoon for a farewell lunch to say goodbye to Sherry Andrews-Dedmond. Sherry spent the last 15 years teaching at the center and says she has enjoyed her time getting to know the kids.

"Every year approximately 5,000 kids that come through here or so (and I have) a passion for them, caring for them. They're just like any other kid that needs good instruction and guidance," she said.

A video was also shown at the party, featuring pictures from her activities with the students.
