**Press Release From Kootenai County Sheriff's Office**

Detectives from the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office are currently in the process of interviewing both the Idaho State Police Trooper and the Shoshone County Deputy that were involved in the fatal shooting that occurred on I-90.

There is no further information expected to be released today as the interviews will take some time.

On June 12, 2013 at just before 12:00 PM, the Shoshone County Sheriff's Office responded to Interstate 90 at about milepost 73, about 2 miles west of the Idaho/Montana border, to check the welfare of a motorist parked in an eastbound turnout.

Once the deputy arrived on scene, an Idaho State Trooper stopped to assist. During the contact with the occupant of the car, he was found to be in possession of a handgun. A struggle ensued and during the struggle, the ISP Trooper fired his service weapon, striking the male.

The suspect, a white male in his twenties, was transported to Shoshone Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. At this time, the male hasn't been positively identified. An autopsy will be scheduled at a later time.

The multi-agency Critical Investigative Team was requested for the investigation, with the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office being the lead agency. Both the trooper and deputy are on administrative leave per their department protocols. They were not injured in the incident.

If anyone traveling on I-90 witnessed the incident, they are asked to contact the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office at (208)446-1300. Further information will be released as it becomes available.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -The Coeur d'Alene Police Department responded to a bomb threat at the K-Mart on W. Neider Avenue Wednesday afternoon. The call however appeared to be a hoax. Police say K-Mart got a phone call from someone with a "thick accent" who said "I've placed a bomb in K-Mart" and demanded they put money on a pre-paid card for him. He said if they didn't he would blow up the store. Police showed up and found nothing.More >>
