YouthBuild Summer Project Starts Monday

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, Wash.--The Lower Valley will soon get the best of both worlds, an affordable housing unit in Granger and a talented pool of new construction workers.

YouthBuild Yakima Valley is ready to start their summer project. The young adults who recently graduated the construction training program will start building houses Monday.

The project is expected to take several months to complete.

The program coordinator said YouthBuild is vital to communities in the Lower Valley.

"A lot of kids are encouraged to do agricultural work which is great but again we want them to get long term skills so that can join a union or participate in a trade job," said Anthony Peterson, the YouthBuild Program Coordinator.

Youthbuild will soon start the recruitment process for their next class, which begins in early October.
