Les Schwab Employees Receive Heroism Award

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Kennewick Fire Department awarded a heroic team of employees Monday for their immediate actions that saved a woman's life.

The City of Kennewick presented Les Schwab employees Miguel Guillen, Jeff Lizama, and Steven Magana with an Award of Excellence for Heroism and Rendering Life Saving Assistance.

In December, a bicyclist was hit by a pick-up truck and then dragged underneath. Employees of Les Schwab and Clearwater Collision Towing witnessed the accident.

They quickly stopped the truck, lifted it off the victim, and started first aid.

"I'm humbled. I wasn't expecting it... I'm just humbled. I'm hoping that the lady is fine and I hope to see her pretty soon," said award recipient, Miguel Guillen.

The employees of Clearwater Collision and Towing were presented the same award last Monday. Kennewick's Fire Chief says by lifting the truck off the victim, they saved the woman's life and allowed the fire department to treat her immediately.
