SPOKANE, Wash. – Following graduation in May, former Whitworth University men's basketball standout Idris Lasisi signed a professional basketball contract with a team in Antwerp, Belgium.

Lasisi played for the Pirates in 2011-12.  Following his one year of eligibility, he remained enrolled at Whitworth and graduated in May of 2013 with a degree in international business.  And last week Lasisi signed a contract with St. Jan of Antwerp in Belgium's top professional league.

Following single seasons at Sheridan (Wyo.) College and North Idaho College, Lasisi made the most of his single year of NCAA eligibility at Whitworth.  He helped lead the Pirates to a 26-4 record and the round of 16 in the NCAA Division III tournament.  Along the way he earned First Team All-Northwest Conference honors along with NABC All-West Region (second team).  Lasisi averaged 16.8 points per contest, added 4.9 rebounds per game, and led the team in steals (39).

Prior to coming to the United States, Lasisi played as an amateur for his hometown team in Leuven, Belgium.
