Washington State Lawmakers Project Extra $110M in Revenue

Posted: Updated:

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Washington lawmakers say they may have $110 million more in revenue than they previously anticipated.

The Economic and Revenue Forecast Council says an improving housing market is helping draw in extra cash.

The council is projecting a $110 million increase in revenue for 2011-13, a $121 million increase for 2013-15, and a $51 million increase for 2015-17. This means state lawmakers will have an additional $231 million in revenue as they consider the 2013-15 operating budget and the 2011-13 supplemental operating budget.

State republicans and democrats have been struggling with budget negotiations as they try to find common ground to balance the budget. House leaders have been pushing for new revenue while the Senate has been seeking policy changes.
