Kennewick Bank Gives Back To Community

KENNEWICK, Wash. - AmericanWest Bank, on Clearwater Avenue,  presented Second Harvest with a $1000 check Tuesday morning.

The bank raised the money by raffling off picnic baskets and setting up donation boxes. They also collected several bags of non-perishable items.

Bankers say they understand the summer months are often challenging for food bank distributors.

"The school provides breakfast and lunch, so this is more of a need almost during summertime than when the kids are in school," said Tracy Henry, a banker.

Second Harvest says the money donated will be used to purchase additional food. The Pasco-based food distributor gives out nearly 500,000 pounds of food each month.
