Richland Water Treatment Plant Gets National Attention

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash.-- The City of Richland water treatment plant is getting some national attention for their innovative system.

The plant recently changed their operations from a wet chlorine gas system to a dry one using pellets.

The new system is more efficient when it comes to releasing the potentially dangerous gas.

"Innovation and forward thinking in the utility to save some money for the tax payers and create a safer environment for the employees and the residents of the city," said John Finch, water treatment plant manager.

The dry scrubber system saved $70,000 in comparison to replacing the old wet chlorine system.

The plant was featured in the June edition of Water System Operator Magazine.
