Cle Elum Arrest Leads to Recovery of Stolen Property
CLE ELUM, Wash. - Ellensburg Police say an arrest in Cle Elum has lead to the recovery of stolen property.
Cle Elum Police arrested 22-year-old Melissa Beaumont of Cle Elum for Vehicle Prowling on Thursday.
Officers say witnesses said they saw Beaumont getting in, or trying to get into several cars on the 1000 block of East First.
Police found her in a nearby motel, where she gave herself up without incident. Officers booked her into the Kittitas County Jail on charges of second degree vehicle prowl for unlawfully entering a vehicle, second degree theft, and second degree possession of stolen property for stealing and possessing a stolen credit card.
Ellensburg Police, who were investigating a number of car prowls, say they matched Beaumont's booking photo to a picture from a local bank, which showed a woman trying to get cash from an ATM using a stolen debit card.
Police detectives obtained and served a search warrant on the motel room in Cle Elum where officers arrested Beaumont. Detectives say they were then able to recover items stolen from three Vehicle Prowls in Ellensburg and one in Cle Elum, as well as a small amount of Heroin.
Beaumont now faces additional charges including Possession of Heroin and Drug Paraphernalia.
Police say there was also a man in the motel room, but they didn't arrest him. Officers say they have requested the Kittitas County Prosecutor's Office files similar charges.
