Tri-Cities Airport Expansion Information Now in Spanish

PASCO, Wash. - Administrators at the Tri-Cities Airport want to make flying easier for non-English speaking travelers.

The airport upgraded it's terminal expansion project signs to both English and Spanish this week. The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce helped with the translations.

Airport officials say it's top three international destinations are to Spanish speaking countries.

"This is a complicated environment; it's a stressful environment, so we try to find opportunities where we can lower that stress for, not just the English speaking travelers, but for the non-English speaking travelers," said Jim Toomey, the executive director for the Port of Pasco.

Work on the $36 million dollar expansion is expected to begin in about a year and will last two years. When completed, the airport will feature a new concourse, food court, check points and rental cars.
