Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison Saturday evening identified the woman struck and killed by a train Saturday morning in Ephrata as Cristina Celeste Hernandez, age 25 of Ephrata. The manner of death is suicide. 


 

Grant County Sheriff's Office Press Release: 

An adult female was killed this morning around 9:45 in Ephrata when she was struck by an eastbound Burlington Northern-Santa Fe freight train. Her body was found near the AmTrak Depot near Division Avenue East and Alder Street in Ephrata. Circumstances of the woman's death are under investigation by the Ephrata Police Department, BNFS Railway and the Grant County Coroner. Coroner Craig Morrison will release the victim's name once family has been notified.

Officials in Grant County have confirmed that a woman has been struck and killed by a freight train in Ephrata.

Investigators say it happened at about 9:45am. The woman was struck by an eastbound Burlington-Northern train near Alder & Division. 

Right now police are interviewing witnesses to try and determined exactly what happened.
