Morales Mashes Walk-Off Home Run

Updated:

Kendrys Morales hit a three-run home run and the Seattle Mariners walked off on the Oakland Athletics with a 6-3 win in 10 innings on Sunday.

Morales' blast came after the Mariners put runners on the corners with one out. Mike Zunino struck out swinging, but reached first base safely on a wild pitch. Michael Saunders singled to right to bring up the pinch-hitting Morales.

Despite a lengthy conversation on the mound involving A's manager Bob Melvin and the infielders, Oakland decided to pitch to Morales instead of intentionally walking him.

Raul Ibanez provided all the Mariners' offense during the first nine frames, hitting a pair of home runs. The veteran outfielder has 17 home runs and 42 RBIs this season.

Oliver Perez gets the win after throwing two scoreless innings. Pasco native Jeremy Bonderman allowed two runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings and was in line for the win until Danny Farquhar gave up a solo home run to Brandon Moss that tied the game at 3-3 in the eighth.

A's closer Grant Balfour was the losing pitcher, getting just one out in the 10th before Morales smashed the game winner into the left-field seats.
