UPDATE: Pasco, Wash. - The Washington State Patrol has identified the man killed in a crash involving a Jeep Cherokee and Semi truck in Pasco Monday night.
Troopers say 37 year old Victor Rebuelta from Othello died at the scene.
Troopers say Rebuelta was heading southbound on SR 397 approaching N. Oregon Street and was going too fast around a curve when he crossed the center line and hit the side of the semi heading northbound.
Troopers say the driver of the semi from Pasco was not injured. Everyone was wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash. Troopers are investigating.
Previous Coverage: UPDATE/PASCO, Wash. -- Washington State Troopers are investigating a fatal accident involving an SUV and a semi-truck in Pasco.
It happened around 7pm off of North Oregon Street near the intersection of James Street.
Troopers say the driver of the Jeep Cherokee was speeding down Oregon Street and crossed over the line into a semi-truck, headed in the opposite direction.
Troopers say the truck driver saw the Jeep crossing over toward him and tried to stop.
Trooper Dave Wilbur said, "According to our witness. He was driving at a very high rate of speed for this area. It's a 45 mile an hour zone. He entered into the right hand corner, which is fairly sharp depending on how fast you're going, drifted over the center line and struck the drivers side of the semi-truck."
Trooper Wilbur says they are working to identify the Jeep's driver, who was found dead when rescue teams arrived.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
Trooper Wilbur says they will continue to investigate the accident.
The North and South bound lanes on Oregon Street are back open.
