Franklin Co. Fire Dist. 3 Asks for Public Input on EMS Levy

Posted: Updated:

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash.-- Commissioners for Fire District 3 say they need additional funding to keep their emergency medical services afloat and they want the public's input.

Tuesday night the board is holding a meeting to discuss a levy lid lift that would cost home owners in Franklin County an additional tax per year.

Commissioners say EMS calls in District 3 have increased by nearly 10% in the past five years.

The program has funding until about February of 2014.

After that their services would end and the county would have to pay for an outside service to come in.

Commissioners say not only would that cost more, but that it would take longer for responders to arrive on the scene of emergencies.

If you'd like to have some input on this matter, the meeting is Tuesday night at the District 3 fire station 2108 Road 84 in Pasco at 6pm.

If you can't attend, you can send a letter to the fire station's address or email chief Litzenberger at 84chieflitz@fcfd3.org.
